Why Siberian Goose Down Duvets?

Because of this, I've decided that my first entry to this Duvets N'Bedding Blog is going to address the issue of explaining in nice and simple terms, a little about Duvets.

We all know that a goose is a bird, so what is Goose Down and more importantly, what is a Goose Down Duvet?

Quite simply, the small feathers on the breast of the Goose are known as the "Down". These are the softest feathers on the bird and also the warmest. In fact their main purpose is to keep the bird well insulated and warm. Wing feathers are more important for flight.

A Goose Down Duvet is a duvet filled with Goose Down, simple as that!

What then is a Siberian Goose Down Duvet?

It is exactly as it suggests, a Siberian Goose Down Duvet is a duvet that is filled with the Down of a Siberian Goose. (Siberian Geese are their own specific breed of geese and not just Geese that live in Siberia)

"And what's so special about the Siberian Goose?" I hear you say. I'll explain it to you the way it was explained to me many years ago.

Think about Climate for a minute, especially the Climate in Siberia. It's one of the harshest in the world!

So for a Goose to survive that cold it needs to be very well insulated indeed. Remember, a bird needs to fly and in order to do that weight needs to be kept to a minimum. Therefore, the Siberian Goose has evolved with feathers and down that is exceptionally warm and light, hence the expression "Warmth Without Weight!"

A Siberian Goose Down Duvet is thus a Duvet that is light and warm, and, when encased in top quality Egyptian Cotton, the result is a Duvet of Total Luxury, the Crème De La Crème of Duvets.
